HINGES PARLIAMENT

Parliament hinges perform the same function as Broad Butt hinges but have a reduced shaped knuckle area which gives the hinge a more traditional apperance. This reduction in knuckle has the adverse effect of flexing if heavy or oversized doors are hung on them, in these cases the Broad Butt hinge should be used.

Parliament hinges are used when standard size hinges are unable to swing the door leaf clear of an obtrusion such as thick architraves , brickwork or when the door frame is set back from the exterior cladding.

Please note that the knuckle of the hinge does not always need to project past the obtrusion for the door to swing clear as the door leaf is fixed at the end of the hinge leaf.

These hinges have a uniform drilling pattern which allows doors and frames to be predrilled.
